Sunday Breakfast Diaries – ‘Karnal Haveli’

Oops ! A little late to post because of Killer Monday which comes along with hell lot of work and meetings along with it.By the title itself you must have got a hint of what this post is gonna be about.Yes! It’s about my Seventh Day- SUNDAY.

Btw how was your Sunday? Sleepy..Outings..Friends..Fun..Right??

Usually, mine are like all day in bed,eating,drinking,surfing net and sleeping almost whole day and then realising – Shit! Sunday is gone! And then the wait for next Sunday begins.

I believe how much ever we love our work.WE ALL NEED A SUNDAY. Be it for family,friends or OURSELVES.

Even God needed rest on the Seventh day.

This Sunday was foodily crazy for me.My brother had an upsurge inner craving to have breakfast at KARNAL HAVELI, GT Road, Haryana.Well the major thing to know here is that it was almost 2 hours or approx. 150 kms away from my home.Another amazing thing was he made me wake up at 5 A.M to start from home as it was best time to enjoy the morning.Indeed It was.

First it was sounding adventurous to me but later it was turned into a beautiful road trip with a heavy breakfast in the end.Blessed I am that it even started showering.Crossing the lush green roads with droplets on the car mirror.Ah!It was worth a drive.

‘Karnal Haveli’, is very well known amongst North Indians, spread across 9 acres of lush green landscape on Chandigarh – Delhi Highway.It is North india’s first original haveli known for its multi cuisine food, cultural celebrations, vents, shopping,and comfort stay.

The haveli has four thematic eating corners- DHABA, CAFE-24,MEZBAAN and CHAAT BHANDAR. All of them designed on different themes catering to all sort of visitors coming in.You can read more about these food corners on the website link given above.

After checking out all the four restaurants one by one,patiently.Choice was difficult but I had been to CAFE-24 before,so only three options to choose from.

Finally,I chose to sit at DHABA – Punjabi theme, rare music, vanishing punjabi art, murals, objects, and superfast service attitude. I was taken away by the posters and ambience created in the dhaba. Everything has been designed so creatively that I just could not resist entering there. I am more of a colorful sitting lover person,So I had to be in there.

As soon as u enter you see human like sculptures placed outside and luring you to come inside.The darbaan welcomes you saying ‘Namaste,Aao Ji’.On your right hand side you will find a BIG HUGE TRUCK – ‘Punjbian di Shaan’ types quotes written on it.It will catch your immediate attention and I am sure You can’t come out without clicking a picture or two next to it.

 

 

Going towards your left is chair-table sitting,again creatively designed in Punjabi style and going straight was the sitting with cosy sofa’s and wooden table surrounded from all the four corners with metal and clay made vessels.

BEAUTIFUL is the word.

When you take your place you will find the posters of all Punjabi talents,celebs like Gul Panag,Dara Sing,Milkha Singh etc. smiling gracefully at you.

I AM HUNGRY !

After glazing and admiring the place I was all set to jump over the MENU CARD.Though there were only 10-15 items listed on the menu card but those listed were Specialties of Punjab.Less options to choose from but finally we ordered OBVIOUSLY ‘Cholle Bhatture’ and ‘Alloo Parantha and Stuffed Parantha Thali with ‘Sweet Lassi’. 

 

Believe me or not! It was mouth watering and the food did not disappoint us at all .Loved it! Loved it! and totally Loved it ! Never had lassi like that before (excluding my visits to Punjab,nothing can compete that).

Hey forgot to tell you,the bill came along with some jaggery and mouth freshner offered to us in a cute wheel cart.I was taken away by the creativity.Everything so traditional with a feel of Punjab.

I must mention I have been to other Havelis as well on GT Road but this was much better in service,food and reasonable pricing.

Finally,we took off that place with heavy STOMACH and drove back home,pissing off my brother as I slept mid way while coming back. LOL . PUNJABI FOOD TO BE BLAMED.

Well whatever,brothers and sisters have endless fighting stories. But for me it was SUNDAY – WELL SPENT.

WHAT I WORE?

I had to go on a two hours long drive that too for breakfast.So I thought of putting on my ‘Athleisure’. I kept it comfortable plus sporty chic. It had comfort of casual and look of elegance.

 

 

I kept my face bare without any make up just a lipgloss and light mascara and I was cool to leave for a morning road trip looking fresh as a flower *boastful* LOL. Below are few images of my #sundayoutfit .
